The words and works of Jesus Christ changed forever the way the world would view the sick and downtrodden: in a society that cast out the diseased and imperfect, Jesus lifted them up and made them his greatest mission.
We do not want to reinvent the wheel and there are so many great people doing great work in our community. Therefore, we decided to do all that we can to support the follow agencies in their work.
Over the past several years, we partnered with Stop Hunger Now to do something about world hunger. We have raised thousands of dollars and packaged tens of thousands of meals. Recently, those meals have been going to the poor folks in Haiti.
Clayton Area Ministries (CAM) is a local ministry that offers food and financial assistance to the needy. We collect non-perishable food items on an ongoing basis, in addition to organizing special fundraising events that benefit CAM, such as the SuperBowl of Caring and others.
Harbor, Inc. is a Johnston County organization that offers shelter and a transitional home for women who are victims of domestic and sexual abuse and their children. House of Hope is a Christian therapeutic school, home and counseling center for hurting and troubled girls, ages 12-17, located in Clayton. CPC collects food and household items for the home. To learn more about House of Hope and how you can help, go to www.houseofhopeofnc.com.
In addition, Discovery Church also pursues other projects at certain times of the year, such as back-to-school backpacks and Angel Tree gifts to support local families in need.
